Elizabeth "Bette" Morgan Scarborough, 94, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at Amazing Grace Assisted Living in Bel Air, Maryland.
Born in Fallston, Maryland, Bette was the daughter of the late Carroll and Mary Irene (Amoss) Morgan. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edmund Scarborough, Jr.
Bette was an organist at Friendship Methodist for 10 years and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church for 19 years where she also led both the Junior and Adult Choir. She later attended St. Albans Anglican Episcopal Church and was deeply involved with the community. She enjoyed providing music for other churches if needed as well as retirement homes. Alongside her husband, she was an active member of the Lions Club, where she contributed her time to the Lioness Club, particularly in organizing events like the annual Pancake Breakfast and Variety Show. She also dedicated her time with her sons activities of Scouts and Little League. Her dedication to service and her local community was evident in all she did.
Bette had a long and fulfilling career, providing secretarial services to Bel Air High School and Edgewood Middle School. Earlier in her life, she was the bookkeeper for her mother's business, "The Kiddie Shop" in Bel Air. Bette was also an accomplished music teacher, offering piano and organ lessons to many students over the years. Outside of her professional and community endeavors, Bette had many personal interests that brought her joy. She loved sewing, gardening, and bowling, and had a special fondness for riding horses. A true animal lover, she cherished her time spent with dogs, which were a constant source of comfort and companionship. While in the care of Amazing Grace Assisted Living, Bette led the residents through her gifts of music and prayer on a daily basis.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Edmund R. Scarborough (Kathy) , William Carroll Scarborough, John R. Scarborough (Lisa); grandchildren, Billy Scarborough, Eddie Scarborough (Ashley), Scott Scarborough (Irina), Joshua Scarborough, T.J. Scarborough, Kristopher Scarborough (Julie), Brittany Scarborough, Patrick Scarborough (Brooke); great-grandchildren, Emmy Scarborough, Gavin Scarborough, Rowan Scarborough, Kaden Scarborough, Beckett Scarborough.
