Elizabeth E. Nelson

Elizabeth E. Nelson, age 84, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on December 17, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Milton Howard and Evelyn Alice (Borkovetz) Deckert and wife of the late Richard Lafollete Nelson.

Betty was proud to be a wife and a mom. That was her life. She was successful in any job she ever took on. She loved birds, flowers and plants, and was very talented in ceramics, oil painting, and anything else she put her mind to.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her children, Debra Evelyn Conley and husband, Edward, of Bel Air, Elizabeth Agnes Harvey and husband, William, of Port Republic, Jacqueline Ann Nelson of Abingdon, Richard Michael Nelson and wife, Deborah, of Joppa, and Barbara Alice Ketchum and husband, Andrew, of Bel Air. She was also by survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer "Jenn", Nicole, William Joshua, Megan, Christine, Ashley and Abigail and by her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Gina and Michael. It was well known too that Mr. and Mrs. Nelson were loving foster parents in the same years when raising their own children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her oldest child, William Dean Nelson and her brother, Milton Dean Deckert.
