Elizabeth “Binkie” Claiborne Motley Lentz of Bel Air, MD passed away on July 3, 2018 at her home. Born in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Motley and Ola Estelle Brandon Motley. After graduating from Longwood College and before retirement, she taught fourth grade for the Harford County Public School system for 30 years. She completed graduate work at Towson University and the University of Maryland.
Binkie was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Maryland Golf and Country Club, a charter member for 62 years in P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Chapter H, and a member for 62 years in the International Honor Society for Women Educators of Delta Kappa Gamma. Over the years she has supported a multitude of charities and their special events. One of her most cherished is Chesapeake Cancer Alliance. She enjoyed family and friends, and many interests including multiple bridge clubs, tennis, golf, travel, gardening, reading and the beach.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Stanley Shoop Lentz and by her five sisters Mildred Dameron, Virginia Young, Mary Catherine Williamson, Ola Blair “Polly” Motley, and Mae Cox. She is survived by her nieces and nephews in Virginia, California, and Alaska; her godson, Stephen Potter of Halethorpe, MD; and Stanley’s relatives from Pennsylvania.
