Elizabeth "Betty" Rigdon, age 85, of Bel Air, MD passed away on January 9, 2013 at her daughter's home. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Stuart Kearns and Elizabeth Richmond and wife of the late Robert Ernest Rigdon Sr. Betty Rigdon will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. As a lifelong volunteer she gave countless hours of service to her community. For the last 14 years, Betty was an active volunteer at the Fallston Hospital and the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. She was a dedicated member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. Betty served several offices of the American Legion Auxiliary, Bel Air Post #39. After a lifetime of dedicated service to her church, family and community, Betty was honored by a nomination for Harford County's Most Beautiful People in 2009.
Mrs. Rigdon is survived by her family, Bob and Rhonda Rigdon of Whaleyville, MD, Lindy and Beth McNutt of Street, MD and John and Jean McGranahan of Hudson, NH; her sister, Mary Morrison of Abingdon; grandchildren Neil McNutt, Jennifer Smith and her husband Sean, Whitney McNutt, Kyle McGranahan and Pasha Rigdon; and one great-grandson, Owen Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Stuart Richmond and sisters, Ann Chilcoat and Jean Fitzpatrick and two grandchildren.
