Elizabeth Ann Smith, age 85, of Churchville, MD passed away on March 28, 2014 at Hart Heritage in Forest Hill. Born in Youngstown, OH, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Wetek Mischkulnig and wife of 60 years to the late James G. Smith Sr. A Harford county resident since 1950, she received her nursing degree, graduating from Temple University with honors, and was Harford County's first school nurse for 15 years. She later graduated from Towson State earning her teaching degree, and taught at George D. Lisby at Hillsdale Elementary and Prospect Mill Elementary where she was known by her third grade students as a caring teacher and for her end of the year picnic at her home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, cook, gardener and artist.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Allyn A. Smith and fiancé Bruce Shearer of Churchville, James G. Smith Jr. and wife, Diane of Abingdon and Susan S. Hopkins and husband, Tim of Darlington; sister, Frances Doney and husband Henry of Ithaca, NY; grandchildren, Matthew and Katy Watson, Ryan and Joshua Smith, Melissa Wetters, James and Maggie Hopkins; great grandchildren, Jimmy and Jacob Smith, Olivia and Travis Watson, and Madeline and Macie Wetters; brother-in-law, Alan H. Smith of West Chester, PA; aunt, Dorothy Snovak and husband, Mike of Youngstown, OH; and nieces and nephew, Adelina Smith of West Chester, PA, Allison Riley and Henry Doney, both of Ithaca, NY.
