Elinor Mae Ackerman

May 25, 1917 — September 19, 2009

Elinor Mae Ackerman, age 92, of Bel Air, MD, died on September 19, 2009 at Brightview Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. Born in Delabole, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clayton Bruch and Flora Richards Tucker and wife of the late Harry Fulton Ackerman. A Bel Air resident for 50 years, she became known to her family as "Tutu" after a trip to Hawaii during which she discovered that "Tutu" was the Hawaiian word for grandmother. She worked at Glenn L. Martin during World War II. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, particularly her dogs. She enjoyed traveling and playing bridge, but her two greatest loves were her family and having her hands in soil while she was planting a new garden.

Mrs. Ackerman is survived by her son, Rev. Stephen B. Ackerman and wife, Barbara, of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Melissa L. McCrea and Jennifer L. Wolsin; and great-grandchildren, Hudson and Tanner McCrea. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Clayton Bruch Tucker Jr.

Those who desire may contribute to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at www.billygraham.org.
