Eleanor (Elly) Duvoisin Coale passed away peacefully at her home in Havre de Grace on January 26 at the age of 91 after a brief illness. Mrs. Coale grew up in Baltimore, attended the Park School, and graduated from William & Mary College. She was married to lifelong Harford County resident Henry Coale for 30 years until his death in 1988. Mrs. Coale worked at Johns Hopkins and then, for many years, at Harford Memorial Hospital. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Decoy Museum in Havre de Grace and was active with the Lions Club.
Mrs. Coale is survived by her loving sister, Grace Bell, who was married to the late Walter A. Bell, Jr., the former rector of Holy Trinity Church in Churchville. Elly also is survived by many other relatives including nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins, and by friends and her beloved cat, Stella.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Coale’s memory may be made to Seasons Hospice, c/o Northern Chesapeake Hospice Foundation, 147 West High Street, Elkton, MD 21921 or to the Havre de Grace Lions Club.
