Eldon Leroy Budnick Jr.

Eldon Budnick Jr., a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died at Harford Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the age of 76. He was born in Aberdeen to the late Eldon L. and Thelma K. Budnick. Beloved husband of Nancy Budnick, he is survived by his three children: Dale and his wife, Kellie, Keith and his wife, Dollie, and Vickie and her husband, Steve; his grandchildren, Shannon, Travis, DJ, and Meghan; Debra, David, and Rachael; Douglas and Jessica; and one great-grandchild, Jayden. He is also survived by his cousins, Edward, Frederick, James and Frank Budnick; and his aunt Mary Budnick.

Eldon was a life member of the Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department, joining in April 1956 where he served on the Board of Directors from 1965-1984 and 1987-1993, and the office of President from 1975-1977, Vice President from 1969-1974 and 1987-1993, and Secretary 1965-1968 and 1978-1984. For 10 years, Eldon served as the Driver Training Instructor for the department, as well as, a driver/pump operator for more than 50 years. Eldon was also a member of the Harford-Cecil Fire Fighters Association.

Eldon spent 25 years with the Maryland State Police where he retired as a Detective Sergeant in 1980. He then joined the Aberdeen Police Department where he retired as a Corporal before joining the District Court of Maryland as a bailiff where he worked for 17 years. Eldon truly loved serving the public.
Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Abingdon, MD on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow with Rev. Robert Clipp from Grace Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are welcome back to the Aberdeen Fire Department for refreshments.
