Egon Marte

EGON MARTÉ, M.D., age 71, of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, died at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, on December 20, 2002. Born in Bregenz, Austria, he was the son of the late Karl Marte, M.D. and the late Maria Fink
Marte. In his homeland he was the first to graduate Subauspicies rei publicae and finished medical school earning straight A’s. He immigrated to America in 1959, settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota and working as an anesthesiologist. He was also a researcher and held an assistant position at the University of Minnesota and Fairview Health System. He moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1984 and worked at Poly Clinic where he retired in 1998. An avid rock climber and mountaineer, he was a loving family man and a great physician. He loved his dachshunds.

Dr. Marte is survived by his wife since 1959, Johanna H. Speckbacher Marte; one son, Michael C. Marte of New York, New York; two daughters, Karen Marte Sorenson of Bel Air; Jennifer L. Marte, M. D. of New Carrollton, Maryland; one brother, Fred Marte, M.D. of Höchst, Austria; two grandchildren, Ryan S, Sorensen, Bel Air; and Kyle P. Sorensen of Bel Air.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Marte, Jennifer Marte, M.D., Ryan Sorensen, Kyle Sorensen, and Karen Sorensen.
