EDWARD LOUIS SHIMEK, age 71, of Aberdeen, formerly of Edgewood for over 40 years, died at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Belcamp on May 31, 2003. Born in Aberdeen, he was the son of the late James Phillip, Sr. and Clementine Josephine Supik Shimek. In 1993, he had retired from the Belko Corporation, Kingsville, Maryland after 39 years of service where he was a stock pressman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Alcoholics Anonymous where he was Treasurer of the Local District 29. He was also the head usher for the 11 am Mass at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church for many years.
Mr. Shimek is survived by one sister, Theresa Kurek of Newnan, Georgia; and nieces and nephews, Cathy LaGardia of Newnan, Georgia, Jimmy Kurek of Barstow, California, Billy Kurek of Warner Robins, Georgia, Mark Kurek of North Carolina, Tina Urbanavious of Panama City, Florida, Nancy Kurek of Newnan, Georgia, Linda Boyle of Whiteford, and Robert J. Shimek, Sr. of Abingdon. He was predeceased by three brothers, Jimmy Shimek; Albert Shimek; Johnny Shimek; and a niece, Debbie Kurek.
