Edward Lee Chatham, age 76, of Darlington, MD, passed away September 21, 2011 at University of Maryland Hospital, Shock Trauma. Born in Grant, VA, he was the son of the late William Phleet Chatham and Grace Chatham Duncan. He was a Christian man who attended church regularly. He retired from Bata Shoe Company after 40 years of service as a Receiving Manager. He coached youth baseball and softball for over 20 years in Darlington. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Ed was a very generous man who loved to give fruit and vegetables from his garden to neighbors and friends.
Mr. Chatham is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine West Chatham of Darlington; son, Gary Chatham of Darlington; daughters, Terri Jenkins and husband, Terrence, of Perryville, Deborah Chatham of Darlington, and Jennifer Vipperman and husband, Jason, of Simpsonville, SC; sisters, Edith N. Steiger and husband, Kurt of Bel Air and Sue Magsamen and husband, Art, of Greenville, SC; and grandchildren; Michael and Melissa Chatham, Trey and Tyler Jenkins, and Sarah and Addisyn Vipperman.
The family would like to thank all doctors and nurses at University of Maryland Shock Trauma ICU Neuro Unit for their wonderful support, compassion, and care.
