Edward Henderson Johnson

EDWARD HENDERSON JOHNSON, age 89, of Bel Air, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on October 21, 2003. Born in Gretna, Florida, he was the son of the late Lee Henderson and Ruby Helen Summerford Johnson, and the husband for 56 years of the late Selma Regina Cecil Johnson. A resident of Harford County for 5 years and of Baltimore City for 51 years, he had worked at Sears as an assistant department manager. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II. He was a past Post Commander of Post #1 American Legion. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Joy Club of Baltimore City. He was a past head usher at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He loved growing flowers and needlepoint.

Mr. Johnson is survived by one son, Edward C. Johnson of Edgewood; two daughters, Patricia A. Schafer of Forest Hill; Kathryn E. Tranter of Glen Arm; one sister, Ruby Helen Strasser of Richmond, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one daughter, Margaret R. Novak.

Pallbearers will be: Rob Tranter, Mike Schafer, Todd Johnson, Jeremy Taylor, and Josh Farley.
