Edward Basil Countryman, age 83, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on October 30, 2013 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel Edward and Marie Agness Murphy Countryman. He worked as a paint chemist throughout his career. He was a Secular Franciscan who was very active in his church. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing chess with the "Chess Nuts" Club. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Countryman is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Countryman; sons, Edward Countryman and Gregg Countryman (Theresa); daughters, Rosemarie Holsey (Doug), Victoria Countryman, Sandra Douglass (Matt), Lynn Winkler (Chuck), Barbara Countryman (Bob Mochi), Bonnie Campbell (Mike), Terese Fitch and Andrea Countryman; brother, Albert Countryman (Jean) and half-brother and sisters Lamar Countryman, Sue Ellis, Jannette McGriff and Cathy Brown; 35 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his half-brother, Buddy Countryman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to sponsor an education fund for the Franciscan Seminarians at St. Anthony of Padua Province, Education Burse, 12300 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD 21042.
