EDWARD ANTONE NORDELL, 84 years young, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away on February 1, 2008. He had been on life support for eight days before passing at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. Mr. Nordell was born on March 12, 1923 in Mellen, WI. He was a retired Master Sergeant and a former POW of WWII. He was held in three different camps during WWII. He was wounded by shrapnel to the head and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was what the military would term a "B A R" infantryman and a para-trooper. He has received numerous awards including the Purple Heart. He was an American Hero. Mr. Nordell was a member of several groups including the American Legion Post #128 in Aberdeen, The Rod and Gun Club, and the VFW Post # 10028 in Aberdeen, of which he served as a trustee. He was a fantastic dancer and loved music of all kinds. The pretty women dancing with him were a bonus. He like traveling and dining in different places. He had hoped to return to Wisconsin this spring. He was a HUGE fan of Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers. He loved hunting, fishing and animals. He lived in the same apartment for about 30 years and his neighbors loved him.
Mr. Nordell is survived by his wife of three years, Theresa E. Kaper-Nordell of Aberdeen, MD. He is also survived by three teenaged step-daughters that kept him young. They are Amy, Emily and Rachel Kaper, all of Mechanicsville, MD. He also had four biological children and one adopted son. He had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gertrude, and a daughter, Sandy Nordell.
