Eduardo Lara Panes, 80, of Baldwin, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at his home. Born in Sara, Iloilo, Philippines, he was the son of the late Salvadore Habagat Panes and Victoria Lara Panes.
Eduardo had a lifelong passion for fishing and was known for his remarkable talent as a mechanic. He had a gift for working on cars and could build a vehicle from the ground up, often with minimal resources—a skill that impressed everyone around him.
Eduardo is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Florence Panes, as well as his six sisters: Corazon Panes (Danny) Sanchez of Baldwin, MD; Herminia L. (Raul) Panes of Old Tappan, NJ; Evelina P. (Amando) Somes of Baldwin, MD; Elvira (Pedro) Alarcon; Cecille L. Panes of Maryland; and Sharonne L. (Tan) Panes of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by three brothers: Zosimo (Belen) Panes of Maryland; Rev. Father Romeo Panes of Maryland; and Ret. Airman Nester L. (Agnes) Panes of Florida.
In addition to his parents, Eduardo was preceded in death by his brother, Wilfredo L. Panes.
Contributions in Eduardo’s memory may be made to St. Vincent Catholic Church in Batad, Iloilo, Philippines, in care of Florence Panes or Corazon Sanchez.
