EDNA UNGER NETHKEN, age 89, of Abingdon, died in Lorien Nursing and Rehabiliation Center in Bel Air on July 31, 2005. Born in Durham, England, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Moore Flint and the wife of the late Fred Unger and the late John D. Nethken, Sr.. Officer Fred Unger was a Baltimore City Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1947. A homemaker, she was a past Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 19. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years and raised cocker spaniel dogs.
Mrs. Nethken is survived by two daughters, Carole L. Bowen of Abingdon and Gail U. Tweed and her husband, Stewart, of Cape May, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
