EDNA MILDRED BLAKE, age 96, of Bel Air died in Citizens Care Center, Havre de Grace on August 7, 2003. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Henry Charles and Massie Marie Cantley Smith and the wife for 57 years of the late William Daniel Blake. Her first husband was the late Albert Holloway. A homemaker, her family said she adored her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. In the 1920’s and 30’s she performed in light operas and concerts including “Batti, Batti O Bell Masetto” from Don Giovanne- Mozart under the name of Edna Holloway. She was a member of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Arlington Presbyterian Church Choir, Hamilton Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, was a past president of Woman’s Association and served as a Deacon and Sunday
Mrs. Blake is survived by one son, Robert Holloway of East Alstead, New Hampshire; one daughter, Carol D. Melchior and her husband, Wayne Melchior of Street; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, she was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, Daniel Smith, Gertrude Smith Fish, Grace Smith Van Dyke; Ada Smith Valenstein, Elmer Smith, Ted Smith, and Harry Smith.
