Edna Clayton Downey

Edna Clayton Downey, age 81, of White Hall, MD passed away on June 11, 2018 at home. Born in High Point, MD, she was the daughter of Edward Thomas and Alice Pauline (Schmidt) Clayton. She worked for Baltimore County Government for 26 years She was a devoted wife, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to bird watch, sew, and complete puzzles. Edna very much enjoyed her retirement with her husband and was a devoted member of her church and loved her Pastor Kenton Hoxie and his services.
Mrs. Downey is survived by her husband of 58 ½ years, Michael H. Downey; her children, Hugh Downey, Gary Downey, Karen Staat, her husband Eric Staat, Thomas Downey, and his wife, Carolyn Downey; daughter, Karen Staat (Eric); daughter-in-law, Carolyn Downey; grandchildren, Melina, Isaac, Danielle, Emmett, Elisa,, Erica, Amelia, Joseph, Octavia,, Isabel, Aaron, Hope, Colin, and Jennifer; two great grandchildren, Emma and Robbie.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Marylu Downey, sister, Dolores Hoover, brothers, Emil and Paul Clayton.
