Edith R. Pierce

EDITH R. PIERCE, age 84, of Joppa, MD, died on September 23, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Delta, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Ramsay and Miriam Hulda Norris Smith and wife of 41 years to the late Charles Walter Pierce. She worked for Bata Shoe Company for 25 years as a sewing machine operator. The youngest of 15 children, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Abingdon Post. She enjoyed bowling, baking and spending time with family.

Mrs. Pierce is survived by a daughter, Darlene J. Sturgill and husband Michael of Whiteford, MD; 3 grandchildren, Joshua M. Sturgill and wife Brandi of Pylesville, MD and Nathan J. and Haley P. Sturgill both of Whiteford, MD; a great granddaughter Kylie S. Sturgill of Pylesville, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son Timothy C. Pierce and 14 siblings.
