Edith J. Lewis

Edith J. Lewis, age 94, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on May 5, 2012 at her home. Born in Middletown, OH, she was the daughter of the late Loran and Maggie Pierce Gunnell. She later moved from Ohio and lived in Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, Tucson, AZ, Bradenton, FL and settled here in Abingdon for 11 years. She went back to college & graduated at the age of 50 where she became a registered nurse, she later became a supervisor and retired at the age of 65. She was the caregiver for her mother for 22 years and loved to play games, travel and was an avid reader and writer.

Ms. Lewis is survived by her daughters, Debra K. Reyes and Lorna J. Cotton, both of Abingdon, MD; three grandchildren, Jason S. Reyes of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Emily J. Clancy of Abingdon, MD and Heather B. Lewis of Hiram, GA; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Randy S. Lewis.
