EARLE R. HIPLEY, age 82, of Havre de Grace, died at Citizens Care Center, on January 8, 2005. Born in Hydes, Maryland, he was the son of the late Adolph and Mattie Amelia Pearce Hipley. He retired from Koppers Company, Glen Arm, as a machinist after 25 years of service. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marines during WWII. An avid gardener, he loved his family and grandchildren. He resided at Citizens Care Center for over six years where he formed special bonds and friendships with his caregivers and also served as resident council president for a term.
Mr. Hipley is survived by four daughters, Sharon D. Hipley of Bel Air, Joann M. Sliger of Whiteford, June A. Poole of Pylesville, and Wendy C. Rizzo of Forest Hill; four brothers, Wilson L. Hipley of Perry Hall, John E. Hipley of Kingsville, David A. Hipley of Jarrettsville, and Melvin R. Hipley of Bradshaw; a sister, Mae E. Fridley of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Jerry W. Hipley and Earle R. Hipley, Jr., two brothers, Adolph Hipley and Alvin F. Hipley, and a sister, Amelia E. Bissell.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Resident Council Scholarship Fund, Citizen Care Center, 415 S. Market Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
