Earl David Smith Jr.

June 28, 1949 — October 3, 2020

Earl David Smith, Jr., age 71, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on October 3, 2020 at Franklin Square Hospital in Rosedale, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Earl and Celeste Smith. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Vietnam Conflict preparing ships for battle and in the Army reserves in the 949th Transportation Company for 25 years. Earl retired from Standard Equipment as a Service Manager. He loved boating and hunting. He was in the Finny's Bunch, Deer Hunting Club in Pokomoke with his sons and friends. He was a great person, loving family man who loved everyone and a proud grandfather and great grandfather.

Earl is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan Shea Smith; grandchildren, Hunter Timothy Smith, Hailey Smith and Katelyn Rebecca Smith; great-granddaughters, Kaleigha Jewell Scott and Emersyn Rae Smith; sister, Debbie Bush; brother in law, Patrick Kevin Shea and his partner, Robert Charles Meyer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Timothy Earl Smith and Thomas Harold Smith.
