Dr. John G. Barry

Dr. John G. Barry, age 90, of Abingdon, MD passed away on February 16, 2014 at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, MD. Born in New London, CT, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary O'Connor Barry. He studied at the University of Maryland before and after serving his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After completing Dental School at the University, he started his own business and practiced in the Baltimore area for 40 years. He was a Life Master Bridge Player and an avid fan of the Ravens, Terps and Orioles.

Dr. Barry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan E. (Steel) Barry; son, Michael K. Barry and wife, Dana, of Bel Air; daughters, Nancy Barry of Takoma Park, Laura Barry and husband, Elliot Altman, of Delray Beach, FL and Susan C. Barry and spouse, Marie Gerwig, of Abingdon; grandchildren, Jennifer L. Barry, Kristen L. Barry and Sean Barry Gerwig. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters.
