Dr. Ihsan Hamit Bolat

Dr. Ihsan Hamit Bolat, age 84, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, died on June 1, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born in Mudanya, Turkey, he was one of five children of the late Ibraham and Halide Bolat. A resident of New Mexico for 7 years, he practiced as a dermatologist for 40 years. He graduated from the University of Istanbul Medical School, interned and had residence at NYC hospitals, and residence at the University of Pennsylvania. He later took extended residence in Hahnemann Skin Cancer Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, practiced in Germany at the U.S. Army Hospital, Dixon Hospital in Dixon, IL, and hospitals in Saudi Arabia. He loved to dance, listen to tango music, and enjoyed history and current events.

Dr. Bolat is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ellen M. Nielsen Bolat of Albuquerque, NM; sisters-in-law Anna Van Atta and husband, Peter, of Bel Air, MD and Freda Nielsen of Macomb, MI; and many nieces and nephews including, Irfan Bolat, Judith Roenke, James Van Atta, Charles Van Atta, Suzanne Soave, and Christopher Neville. He is also survived by many dear friends.
