Dr. Henry E. Hill

Dr. Henry E. Hill, age 95, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on October 8, 2014. Born in Union County, Tennessee in 1919, he was one of six children born to Elbert Q. and Lucy Snodderly Hill. After serving in the South Pacific in World War II, he graduated from Butler University in Indiana and received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in ministry from Christian Theological Seminary. He pastored four churches during his 50 year ministry: Ben Davis Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana; Westside Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas; Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland; and Downtown Christian Church in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Dr. Hill, greatly beloved by family and friends, was known for his tender heart, compassionate spirit, delightful sense of humor, and love of life. Although an educated scholar, he had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of daily living and inspired others (often through song and poetry) to live more gratefully.

He was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 64 years, Laura Nell, and is survived by his two daughters, Laura Beth Richardson and husband, Mark, of Darlington, Maryland, and Lucy Phillips and husband, Dr. Richard Phillips, of Memphis, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
