Dr. Donald E. Sheldon, D.Ed.

Dr. Donald E. Sheldon, D.Ed., age 81, of Scotch Plains, NJ, father of Lyle E. Sheldon of Havre de Grace, MD, died on October 16, 2009 at Brightview Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. Born in Oswego, NY, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lucy McGlen Sheldon. Dr. Sheldon was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Alice, who passed away on August 8, 2009. Dr. Sheldon received his Masters and Doctorate of Education degrees from Columbia University in New York. Dr. Sheldon, a 42 year resident of Scotch Plains, retired from the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School district after 35 years of service. He also was active with the Tiny Tim Fund and served as an elder at Willow Grove Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Sheldon is survived by his children, Larry D. Sheldon of Paulsboro, NJ, Cheryl A. Perkins and husband, Henry, of Ennis, TX, Lyle E. Sheldon and wife, Donna, of Havre de Grace, MD, Dale S. Sheldon and wife, Ann Marie, of Ridgefield, CT, and Cathleen D. Janssen and husband, David, of Scotch Plains, NJ; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
