DOROTHY YEAGLE CALKINS, died on September 10, 2005 at Brightview in Bel Air. She would have been 88 in January. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George Edwin and Mary Madeline Spath Yeagle and the wife of the late Cecil Edward Calkins.
She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for over 40 years. During her years at Oak Grove she was active in many areas, including Pacesetters, Keenagers and her Sunday School Class.
As a homemaker and mother, Mrs. Calkins was also a volunteer for a number of years at the Department of Social Services and Fallston General Hospital. In recognition of her many years of service at Southhampton Middle School, she also received the State of Maryland Outstanding Volunteer Service Awards in the years of 1987 and 1996. In addition to these awards, Mrs. Calkins received the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award signed by William Donald Schaefer in 1989.
Mrs. Calkins is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Jane and Million E. Daneker, Jr. of Bel Air; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Calkins of Bel Air. She is survived by two grandsons, William Scott Calkins and his wife, Heather of Elkton, Maryland and David Edward Calkins of Seattle, Washington; two great granddaughters, Prisca Grace and Phoebe Hope Calkins also of Elkton; and four step-grandchildren, Million E. Daneker, III of Baltimore, Stephen R. Daneker of Laytonsville, Kirsten A. Jelsch of China, Michigan, and Adam T. Daneker of Darlington. She is also survived by her nieces, Ruth Meyers Howard of Bel Air and Geraldine Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: William Scott Calkins, David Edward Calkins, Million E. Daneker, III, Adam True Daneker, Bart Howard, and Million E. Daneker, Jr.
