Dorothy M. Garry

DOROTHY MAY GARRY, age 91, of Port Orange, Florida, died at Judy’s Place Assisted Living in Edgewater, Florida, on February 22, 2006. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Tokes Schmidt. Mrs. Garry, prior to moving to Florida with her son, lived briefly in Bel Air, Maryland with her son and daughter-in-law at which time her husband, William J. Garry, predeceased her. Prior to this, Mrs. Garry had been at lifetime resident of Trenton, NJ along with her husband of 67 years.

She was active along side her husband in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed being a homemaker after spending her earlier years working in the field of modeling, department store buying, and selling Avon.

Additionally, she was a participant in the Christian Science Religion in Trenton, NJ with her niece, Joyce Schmidt Walukiewicz, while still entertaining her membership in the Catholic Church.

Mrs. Garry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, who resided in Bel Air for over 30 years, Garret J. and Kathleen Garry of Port Orange, FL; three grandchildren, Gary Patrick Garry of Las Vegas, NV, Dana M. Appleby of Forest Hill, MD, and Gina L. Ling of Lewes, DE; and six great grandchildren, Jack Garry of Las Vegas, NV, Joshua Robinson of Lewes, DE, Tayler Appleby of Forest Hill, MD, Benjamin Appleby of Forest Hill, MD, Ashleigh Ling, of Lewes, DE and Alyssa Ling of Lewes, DE. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, John Schmidt and two sisters, Elizabeth Sanczel and Anna Novak Laslo.
