Our dearly beloved mother, Dorothy Ella Coomes Hoffman (also lovingly known as Dot), passed away quietly in her home, to be with her Heavenly Father on October 15, 2016 in Santa Fe, Texas. She was 89 years old. She was born in Harford County, Bel Air, Maryland, May 6, 1927 to J.R. and Lula Coomes. She had four sisters, one brother, two step-brothers and a step-sister. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
She graduated from Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland on June 11, 1945 with honors. She then embarked on a successful career with the F.B.I in Washington, DC, albeit short-lived. She married and gave birth to four children. She was very outgoing and made friends easily. She loved country music, jogging, was politically active, loved to read, active in her local church, and participated in local fundraisers. She enjoyed life to the fullest.
Friendships were very important to her. Always with a beautiful smile, she would make others feel right at home. Our mother loved God very much and always taught her children to do the same. She will always be remembered for her steadfast faith and strong love for her family.
She is survived by one sister; four children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was always there for us. Thanks Mom. You're the Greatest.
