Dorothy ''Dot'' D. Rogers

DOROTHY “DOT” D. ROGERS, age 77, of Edgewood, died in Lorien of Riverside on February 2, 2003. Born in Drifton, Pennsylvania, a coal mining town, she was one of four children of the late Calvin Vincent and Frances Kopetz Krohn. Always the compassionate one, Dorothy had visions of becoming a nurse. After graduating from McAdoo High School in 1943, she achieved that dream when she was accepted into the nursing program at Philadelphia General Hospital, four years later she received her Registered Nursing Degree. She began her career at Fort Howard Veterans Hospital near Sparrows Point in 1947. On October 18, 1948 she married Charles H. Rogers and set up a household in Logan Village area of Dundalk. In 1964, the family moved to Edgewood Meadows and she transferred nursing duties to Perry Point Veterans Hospital. Upon retirement she and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling around the countryside in their motor home. When not traveling, she enjoyed daily shopping trips, movies and dinners around the Harford County area. An accomplished seamstress, she often made clothes for her family and various home decorations for her daughters’ homes. She also enjoyed embroidering. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother but most of all a beautiful person.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles H. Rogers; two daughters, Kathleen C. Evans of Dublin; Susan R. Wilhelm of Laurel; and four grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Emily Krohn-Bast, Jospeh Rogers & Harold Rogers.

Pallbearers will be: Ronald Evans, Robert Evans, Rodney Evans, Kurt Wilhelm, William Rogers, and Joe Molino.
