Doris M. Babec

DORIS M. BABEC, age 79, of Havre de Grace, MD, died on June 5, 2007 at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Street, MD, she was the daughter of the late Randolph Frederick and Lenora Mae Fadeley Laye and wife of the late Lambert H. Babec. Throughout her life, especially during her illness, she was surrounded by devoted family and friends, who feel blessed to have been part of her life’s journey. She was a devoted member of Webster United Church of Christ in Havre de Grace, where she was adored by her church family. For many years, she served as a Unit Secretary at Harford Memorial Hospital and continued to enjoy the friendships and love of her hospital family. She was an avid cook and enjoyed movies and Broadway shows.

Mrs. Babec is survived by two daughters, Rev. Lonna C. Smith of Havre de Grace, MD, and Laura H. Babec of Concord, NC; one brother, Donald Frederick Laye of Havre de Grace, MD; two sisters, Evelyn Rodia of Havre de Grace, MD, and Sadie Storath of Annapolis, MD; two grandchildren, Jerry L. Ashby and his wife, Teresa, of Havre de Grace, MD, and Pamela C. Coyle and her husband, William, of Santee, CA; three great-grandchildren, Jerry L. Ashby Jr. of Havre de Grace, MD, and Austin Inscho and Dillon Coyle, both of Santee, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by six brothers, Stanley L. Laye, George W. Laye, Frank E. Laye, Edward C. Laye, Elery Laye and John H. Laye; one sister, Dorothy Laye Hergenrother; and a great-grandson, James I. Ashby.
