Doris D. Atchison

Doris D. Atchison, age 73, of Abingdon, MD, died on October 6, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Verdun Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Alexander and Gertrude Marie Laroche Duhaime, and wife of the late Joseph A. Atchison. From 1952-1978 she held the positions of stenographer, secretary, bookkeeper, and receptionist at various locations including: the Canadian Government in the Headquarters of National Defense in Ottawa, and in Washington, DC; Legal Department and the Technical Operations Department of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Washington, DC; the Chief Engineer at Bechtel Corporation in London, England; the President at Foster Corporation in El Paso, TX; Robert E. Herzstein, Arnold, Fortas & Porter in Washington, DC; Raymond H. Suttle, Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly, in Newport News, VA; Janet Baird of Tanana Valley State Fair Association, Fairbanks, AK; ACTION Employment Agency; Robert A. Costa, president of Pineridge Realty and D&R Plumbing, East Falmouth, MA; Dr. Robert A. Frosch, Associate Director for Applied Oceanography; Dr. Ferris Webster, Associate Director for Research, Woods Hole Oceanographic Instititution, Woods Hole, MA; and most recently, the president and sales representatives for Susquehanna Concrete Products, Inc., Magnolia, MD. She became an American citizen in 2009 and was employed with Harford County Parks and Recreation for 23 years, where she was an administrative assistant. She enjoyed cats, and knitting, especially for the babies at the hospital.

Mrs. Atchison is survived by her son, Kevin A. Atchison and wife, Loretta E., of Aberdeen, MD; and sister, Carm Quinn of Canada.
