Dorine Spurlin Butash

Dorine Butash passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on October 15, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was sixty-three years old. A lifelong resident of Harford County, Maryland, she is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Roger Butash, her daughter Courtney Butash, and her grandson Isaac McDonald. All of Joppa, MD. She is also survived by two brothers, Ronnie Spurlin of Independence, Va. and Aaron Spurlin of Sarasota, Fl.

Dorine worked at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Edgewood, Maryland for just under twenty years. When she was not working, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, shopping with her daughters, spending time out in her yard gardening, and was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Dorine was one to persevere through any obstacle life threw her way and managed to do so with a smile. She was a person her friends and family could count on and demonstrated her strength and love in everything she did. Dorine spent many of her later years traveling including a trip to Ireland with friends and ziplining in Alaska. She also enjoyed being with her daughter Courtney, and spoiling her grandson Isaac, who referred to her as “Dorney.”

Dorine is preceded in death by her daughter Kara Lynn Butash and her parents Jesse Gene Spurlin and Gladys Catron Spurlin. She is also preceded in death by four siblings, Russell Spurlin, Shirley Spurlin, Larry Spurlin, and Judy Bennett.

Visitation will be held under the caring guidance of the family owned and operated McComas Funeral Home, Abingdon, Maryland on Thursday, October 21, 2021, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Interment will take place in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
