Donnell E. Balmert

Donnell E. Balmert, 87, of Bel Air, MD passed away on January 8, 2016, at Hooper House Hospice in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Richard M. Balmert and C. Loretta (McDonnell) Balmert. After serving 2 years in the U.S. Army, he worked for The National Brewing Company for 37 years where he was the Director of Sales Administration. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4851 in Hollywood, FL where he was Grand Knight from 1973-1974. He was also an inactive member of Council 4714 in Bel Air, MD. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church in Forest Hill, MD. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and could always be found with one in his shirt pocket. He also enjoyed playing five-handed (or more!) solitaire with his family.

Mr. Balmert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amelia B. (Harris) Balmert; brother, Richard Balmert of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; children, Marie Kridenoff and husband, William, of Bel Air, Michael Balmert and wife, Donna, of Cranberry Twp., PA, Anne Kelly and husband, James, of Bel Air; grandchildren, Sarah Kridenoff and Stacey Kridenoff of Bel Air, Stephen Balmert and Lauren Balmert of Cranberry Twp., PA, Jonathan Bunker of Wrightsville, PA, Emily Bunker of Bel Air, Joshua Kelly of Baltimore and Bryan Kelly and his wife, Hema, of Silver Spring; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Balmert.
