Donald Lee Walker, age 88, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025.
Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, Donald was the son of the late George and Mildred (Edmonston) Walker and the beloved husband of 65 years to Shirley J. Walker. They were married in 1959-on the day of an NFL Championship Game-and together built a beautiful life grounded in love, laughter, and family.
Donald proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957 as a Radio Operator on the 6th Fleet. After his service, he went on to work at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Edgewood.
A quiet and devoted man, Donald was most at peace at home with Shirley, sharing porch-side cups of tea or on trips to Maine where lobster dinners became a treasured tradition. He had a deep love for reading, particularly action-adventure books, and spent many peaceful hours with a good story in hand or with a fishing rod by his side.
Donald was a proud and loving father and grandfather. Family was truly his joy. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his grandchildren—especially on trips to Ocean City—and he delighted in capturing their laughter and milestones on video. The house was always filled with warmth, humor, and the sound of his hearty laughter.
A gifted singer, Donald was a longtime member of the SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America), where he found joy in music and friendship.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence brought light, his laughter brought joy, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Donald is survived by his sons, Ronald Keith (Donna Irene) Walker, and Mark Allen Walker; grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Walker, Victoria Michelle Walker, Jeremy Lee Walker, and Wesley Alexandar Walker.
