Don Guhr, 92, of Bel Air passed away quietly with family gathered around his bed on July 17.
Born to the late Charles Guhr, Sr. and Mary Guhr and raised by his beloved late Aunt Lillian and Uncle Bill Hickman all of Millville, NJ. His death was preceded by his brothers Charles Guhr Jr., Dale Guhr, and half-sister Charlotte Mason; and that of his only son D. Russell Guhr Jr.
Donald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan; also, his daughter Maryjane Guhr Berk, her husband Warren and their two sons, Paul and wife Kim and Travis Berk; along with Russell’s two children Tara and husband Mack Guhr Lee and Taylor Guhr. He also has four great grandchildren Lily, Kaylee, Matthias and Gaius.
Don served in the U.S. Navy then worked for Martin Marietta for more than 30 years. Not one for sitting on the porch after retirement he volunteered at the Harford County Sheriff’s Department, then with the expansion of Mt. Zion Methodist Church (member since 1962) and worked with the Office of Aging in the Senior Centers Woodshop.
Don was an avid sail boater; he enjoyed the quiet of the water and would take anybody out to enjoy Chesapeake Bay. Don was the last survivor of the “Breakfast Club”. Duke, Ron, and Bob you all have some catching up to do now that Don is with you again.
