Donald F. Merritt

Donald F. Merritt, age 68, of Bel Air, MD, died on May 7, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Upland, PA, he was the son of the late Harold Forrest and Dorothy Nickle Merritt. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country in the Vietnam War. He graduated from Drexel University in 1964 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and from University of Maryland in 1980 with a Masters in Computer Science. A Chief Scientist, he worked for APG Department of Defense for 42 years. His hobbies included computers and model trains.

Mr. Merritt is survived by his wife, Judith A. Merritt of Abingdon, MD; son, Donald Michael Merritt and wife, Lucia, of Germany; daughters, Sharon Lynne Stagner of Florida and Andrea Noel Kirk and husband, Michael, of Abingdon, MD; brother, William Harold Merritt and wife, Joanne, of New Jersey; sister-in-law Christine Merritt of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Stephanie and Karissa Merritt of Georgia, Diana Barreto Lang of Germany, Ian and Bryce Stagner of Florida and Ashley Kirk of Abingdon, MD; and nieces and nephews, Caroline, Brian, Harold, Alexander, Christopher and Erik Merritt.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Merritt was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and James Merritt.
