Donald D. Demuro

November 17, 1929 — November 9, 2008

Donald D. DeMuro, age 78, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away on November 9, 2008 at his home, after a lengthy illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank Joseph DeMuro and Agnes Gertrude (Kirrane) DeMuro.

Mr. DeMuro was a veteran, having served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1957, including a tour of duty in Great Britain. A resident of Harford County for some 50 years, Mr. DeMuro's many faceted career included teaching Biology and Chemistry at North Harford High School in the late 1950's. He subsequently worked as a chemist at American Cyanamid, before branching into the management of manufacturing processes, most notably at Fox Industries in Baltimore. Mr. DeMuro spent the final phase of his career as Alumni Director of Father Martin's Ashley, retiring from that position in 2003. In his capacity as Alumni Director, Mr. DeMuro strove to give back to the community that had been so instrumental in the achievement of his own recovery. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, and visiting Brigantine, NJ.

Mr. DeMuro is survived by his wife, Anne Koehler DeMuro of Brigantine, NJ and seven children, including five sons, Francis DeMuro of Melbourne, FL, Joseph DeMuro of Street, MD, Jerry DeMuro of Sammamish, WA, Michael DeMuro of Williamstown, NJ, and Richard DeMuro of Arlington Heights, IL, and two daughters, Maria Reilly of Coconut Grove, FL and Ann Thoresen of Estell Manor, NJ, as well as by twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. DeMuro is also survived by two brothers, Francis DeMuro of Philadelphia, PA and Paul DeMuro of Wilmington, NC, and a sister, Cecilia Paul of Philadelphia, PA. In addition to his parents, Mr. DeMuro was predeceased by a son, Donald DeMuro, and a brother, Gerald DeMuro.

Those who desire to do so may contribute to Father Martin's Ashley, 800 Tydings Lane, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Memory tributes may be sent to the family at mccomasfuneralhome.com.
