DON S. MACKEY, age 82, of Churchville, MD, died on May 4, 2007 at his home. Born in Fair Hill, MD, he was the son of the late Samuel Streper and Martha Reed Watson Mackey. He served his country during WWII in the Normandy Campaign and the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge from the Army, he continued to serve his country as a test driver, Engineering Technician, and Project manager for the U.S. Government at Aberdeen Proving Ground until his retirement in 1984. He was a past member of Rock Presbyterian Church in Fair Hill, Cecil County, MD, where he served as an Elder and maintained close friendships. When he moved to Churchville in 1958, he joined Churchville Presbyterian Church where he served as Clerk of Session, Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and Head Usher, as well as served on many church committees. He loved his family and was an active father, participating in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTA, and other community organizations. In his retirement years, he spent many hours gardening and enjoying antique cars.
Mr. Mackey is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eula M. Mackey of Churchville, MD; two sons, D. Steven Mackey and his wife, Niloufer, of Kalamazoo, MI and Gary A. Mackey and his wife, Laura, of Boston, MA; a daughter, Kathy L. Mackey of Delta, PA; two grandchildren, Stephanie Borgal and her husband, Ethan, of Delta, PA and Nicole Mackey of Delta, PA; and one great-granddaughter, Melanie Borgal of Delta, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, James Mackey, John Mackey and Benjamin Mackey.
