Dolores M. Huff

Dolores Mary Huff (nee Del Favero), died on August 29, 2020. She was the beloved wife to the late Raymond Oswald Huff of which 56 years of marriage were shared. Dolores was born on April 20, 1928 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Emma Belfi and William Del Favero. She spent her youth in the Avondale area of Cincinnati. Dolores began working at the age of 16 as a part-time cashier in a neighborhood theater while attending Hughes High School. At the age of 18, she met her late husband at this theater. After high school, Dolores was employed as a Comptometer Operator in the Offices of Pepsi Cola and Sealtest Ice Cream Companies in Cincinnati.

In April 1954, Dolores married her late husband, a U.S. Army career soldier stationed at Edgewood Arsenal, MD. She began her federal service career as a clerk-typist at Edgewood Arsenal in July 1954. She continued her career with a 4-year tour in Frankfurt, Germany; a 5-year tour at Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD as a Secretary; a 1-year tour at U.S. Army Armor School, Fort Knox, KY as a Clerk-Stenographer; and a 3-year tour in Hanau, Germany as a Secretary. Returning state-side in February 1967 she again continued her career as a Secretary in the Procurement Directorate, Edgewood Arsenal. In April 1971, Dolores transferred to the US Army Environmental Hygiene Agency, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD as a Secretary and retired in July 1987 as a Writer/Editor ending her federal service career.
Dolores is survived by her sister, Olga May Sorrell of Greenfield, OH and many nieces and nephews in Cincinnati, Greenfield and Houston, and many out of state and local long-time friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers, William Del Favero and Hugo Del Favero, sisters in law, Anastasia Del Favero and Norma Jean Del Favero, and brother in law, Dave Sorrell.

Dolores had many interests after retirement. Caring for pet miniature poodles (Cory and Cody); the Wednesday Night Mixed Bowling League at Aberdeen Proving Ground (secretary for 17 years); community service as a volunteer at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She also enjoyed bus trips to casinos and New York City Broadway shows; knitting and crocheting; non-fiction mystery books, working Sudoku puzzles were just a few of her many interests.

Dolores’ family wants to thank the heroes at Hart Heritage Assisted Living for the excellent care and friendship over the last year.
