Diann Woody, age 78, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on March 8, 2022 at Franklin Square Hospital in Rosedale, Maryland. Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Albert Fravel and Jean (Taylor) Bock. She had retired in 2010 after many years of service working as a supervisor at the Saks 5th Avenue warehouse. She enjoyed knitting & crocheting, but Diann’s absolute favorite thing to do was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her and she loved to spoil them every chance she could get. She always looked forward to her annual trips to Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Massachusetts and South Carolina to visit her family and friends.
When at home, Diann enjoyed a glass of wine or two while watching her favorite shows like Days of our Lives, Jeopardy and Judge Judy. She loved to cook and her family always asked her to make her green bean casserole, potato casserole, deviled eggs or her meatloaf. To this day, we still don’t how to make them because she never followed the recipes.
Another thing Diann enjoyed was a good party, especially throwing one. She and Woody were known for their 4th of July parties in the early years, especially when Woody was in a rugby league, and she would always look forward to going to the regular rugby parties. She also loved to have her annual Christmas party at their house and giving each one of her guests a Christmas gift to thank them for coming and for being a part of her life. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved having the house decorated with trimmings galore, which included 15 or more totes of decorations and about 25 or more Christmas wreaths to hang all around house. The lights on the tree, string lights on the fireplace mantle and the lit garland around the house made her so happy. She also loved watching everyone open their presents Christmas morning and making her leg of lamb dinner, with of course, mint jelly.
She left us with a huge hole in our hearts when she left us, but our minds are overflowing with the great memories we have of her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Diann is survived by her husband of 35 years, Roy Woody, Sr.; daughters, Chris Harvey and Kimberly (Skip) Brown; stepsons, Roy Woody, Jr. and Richard W. Woody; sister, Lynn Fontana; grandchildren, Josh (Caryn) Harvey, Cory Harvey (fiancée Jenny Traylor), Dalton & Jessica Clark, Nathaniel, Christian, Gabriel & Benjamin Brown, Aaron Chesser, Shelby & Cole Woody; great-grandchildren, Abby, Kenzie, Jackson, Kendall, Greyson & Hayes Harvey.
