DEWITT SCOTT HOOVER, age 76, of Joppa, MD died in Mariner Health of Bel Air, MD on January 7, 2004. Born in Singers Glen, Rockingham County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Thelma S. Hoover. He was an independent owner and operator of his own truck. A resident of Harford County, MD since 1979, he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 5838 in Joppa, MD and the American Legion Post 17 in Edgewood, MD. He liked working on old cars and boats, and cared for stray dogs. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. Hoover is survived by three daughters, Joy Cornell-Baker of Manassas, Virginia; Toni Rueter of Point Clear, Alabama; Lydia Hoover of Towson, Maryland; two step-sons, Tracy A. Fearson of Joppa, Maryland; Glen Fearson of Key West, Florida; three grandchildren, Ron L. Haynes, Jr. of Manassas, Virginia; Wendy L. Padgett of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Nicholas C. Rueter of Point Clear, Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Cameron L. Haynes and Sydney P. Haynes, both of Manassas, Virginia.
