Margaret Balmos "Peggy" Pfarr-Miller, age 55, of Belcamp, MD, died on November 5, 2008 at her home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Earl Robert and Mary Elizabeth Kahl Balmos. Margaret attended and graduated from the Overlea Senior High School in Baltimore, MD in 1971. She began employment with the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, and later with Baltimore County Department of Central Services in Towson as an Emergency Services Dispatcher from 1979 to 1981. Afterward, she began part time employment with the Baltimore County Police Department as a School Crossing Guard from 1981 to 1984 and became a member of the Baltimore County Police Auxiliary Force in 1983. She later applied for and gained employment with the State of Maryland Building and Grounds Special Police in Baltimore, from 1984 to 1985, during which time she attended and graduated from the Baltimore City Police Academy (October 1, 1984 to January 4, 1985). On September 26, 1985, Margaret began employment with the Town of Bel Air, Bel Air Police Department, as a full time sworn Law Enforcement Officer for the next 23 years. While employed with the agency, she was initially assigned to the Criminal Patrol Division where she was also part of the agency's Bike Patrol Unit. She was also active and enjoyed her position as a Post Advisor for the Police Explorer Program, Post #9010. On July 1, 2004, she was assigned to the agency's Criminal Investigation Division (C.I.D.) She ended her career as a Detective First Class retiring from the agency on August 19, 2008. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, shopping and spending precious time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Pfarr-Miller is survived by her husband OFC-TO Zachary Robinson Miller of Belcamp, MD; daughter, Jennifer Denise Blythe and husband, Larry, of Fayetteville, NC; son, Benjamin Matthew Pfarr of Belcamp, MD; brothers, William Harold Balmos of Middle River, MD, David Brian Balmos of Hampstead, MD, and Robert Earl Balmos of Middle River, MD; and grandchildren, Gabriel Patrick Blythe, Trevor James Blythe, and Adam Zachary Blythe, all of Fayetteville, NC.
