Dennis Wilbur Johnson

Dennis Wilbur Johnson, age 72, of Bel Air, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Havre de Grace, he was the son of the late Marvin and Marie (Magness) Johnson. A graduate of Bel Air High School and Towson State College, he worked for the Department of the Army for 36 years and retired in 2010 as a Supervisory Biologist at the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center. An active member of Mountain Christian Church, he was a member of the Chancel Choir and His Harvesters gospel quartet. Dennis stood proudly in his faith and his priority was always his family. He was especially proud of having seen all his children through college and in fulfilling careers. Dennis loved the changing of the seasons, music (especially gospel, blues, and hymns), bird watching, and driving with the top down on back roads. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time on his boat and traveling to the beach. He could most often be found engaged in a home or garden project with his wife and children. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how things work and spending quality time with them.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Melissa, to whom he was married for over 50 years, sons Derek and Jared and wife Winnie, daughter Jessica Kocher and husband Jeffrey, grandchildren Ryan and Sydney Kocher, brother Marvin Johnson, Jr., sister E. Ruth Crabb, stepmother Paula Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
