Dennis Charles O'Hara, age 76, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on August 10, 2024, at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Dennis was the beloved son of the late Charles and Emma (Zanzinger) O'Hara.

A proud and devoted husband, Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Crawford) O'Hara. Throughout his life, Dennis exemplified dedication, both in his professional endeavors and personal passions.

Dennis was a standout athlete, playing varsity football at the University of Maryland. His talent on the field earned him the prestigious Bob Beal-Tommy Marcus Award for Best Overall Lineman in 1972. He held the all-time quarterback rushing record in a single game at the University of Maryland, a record that stood from 1969 until 2011—a testament to his skill and determination.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Dennis made a lasting impact in his professional life as a Marketing Representative at Atlas Oil Company. He was also a founding member of the Order of the Crop in Charlottesville, VA, and a dedicated member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church.

In his leisure time, Dennis found joy in golfing and woodworking, hobbies that allowed him to express his creativity and love for the outdoors.

Above all, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished his family and the time spent together. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. 

In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by his daughter, Christine O'Hara (Scott) Raker of Roanoke, VA; sons Dennis Sean (Stephanie) O’Hara of Stamford, CT, Charles Robert (Melissa) O’Hara of Charlotte, NC, Andrew John O’Hara of Essex, MD; granddaughters, Averie Michelle (Devon Martin) Full of New Iberia, LA, Kaitlyn A. Raker of Roanoke, VA, Emmie Rose O’Hara of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Charles Jack O’Hara of Charlotte, NC; great-granddaughter, Addilyn Rose Martin of New Iberia, LA; brothers, Rev. Charles Robert O’Hara of Spring City, PA., Lawrence (Judi) O’Hara of Media, PA, Brian (Virginia) O’Hara of Uxbridge, MA; sisters, Kathleen Barrett of Rehoboth, DE, Barbara O’Hara of Media, PA, Maureen (Jeffrey) Daws of Vestal, NY, Patricia Greaves of The Villages, FL, Joan (Paul McDade) O’Hara of The Villages, FL, Jean (Ken) Taylor of The Villages, FL; sisters-in-law, Patricia Radich of Glen Mills, PA, Patti O'Hara of Chadds Ford, PA, and a special family friend, Sister Dolores Beatty.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Michael O’Hara, John Francis O’Hara, and Bruce O’Hara.
