Delphia Omelia Mcrae Thompson

March 6, 1922 — September 15, 2010

Ms. Delphia Omelia McRae-Thompson, 88, of Aberdeen, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 9:00 p.m.

She was born to the late Pastor James and Nannie McRae on March 6, 1922 in Lumberton, NC. Ms. Thompson graduated from high school in Lumberton, NC. Later she moved to Dundalk, MD where she met and married the late Boyd Thompson Sr.

Ms. Thompson worked in the nursing field at Baltimore City Hospital (now called Bayview Hospital) on the cancer ward for close to 30 years before retiring. She caringly took care of each patient and was dedicated to her employer. She was awarded several certificates by her employer for her dedication, achievements, and advancements.

She gave her life to Jesus Christ at a very early age and became a born-again Christian. She was an active member of the church. She was faithful to God and she loved the Lord, the church, and her family. She ushered, she was on the missionary board and sung on the choir for many years at the churches she attended; her church in North Carolina-Hilly Branch Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church of Dundalk, MD and Shining Star Baptist Church in Chase, MD. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of other people by sharing her love and the Word of God with family, friends and strangers. She loved the hymns such as Amazing Grace, Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus, and she loved the 23rd Psalm "The Lord is My Shepherd". In her retirement years she enjoyed caring for her husband, sewing, knitting, taking short day trips to Lancaster, PA, sitting at the park relaxing, and exercising at the senior centers.

Ms. Thompson's latter years were spent at a nursing home facility where her children passionately and lovingly cared for her (in the evening of her life) until she was called home to heaven and carried off by the angels of God to be with the Lord.

Ms. Thompson is survived by seven children, Elder Bruce A. and Linda M. Moore-Thompson of Essex, MD, Missionary Brenda J. Thompson-Cheatham and Deacon Melvin L. Cheatham, of Joppa, MD, Boyd and Elaine Thompson of VA, Pastor Jacqueline Adell Thompson-Scott and Pastor Walter Scott, of Aberdeen, MD, Gary and Angelia Thompson of Clinton, MD, Deacon Wade and Kristal Thompson of Middle River, MD, Ricky and Joan Thompson of VA. She also is survived by 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
