Following a long battle with vascular dementia, Delores Corbin Doss of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on December 5, 2023, with her daughter by her side.
Born on April 8, 1940, Delores’ childhood was spent on the family farm in Fallston, Maryland. Some of Delores’ fondest memories were those spent working at Polans Store in Bel Air and hanging out with friends at Reubens Drive In. After graduating from Bel Air High School in 1958, Delores went to work for what was then the Board of Education and became the Executive Secretary to the Superintendent of Harford County Public Schools where she worked diligently for 38 years.
Delores rarely ever asked for help and anyone that knew Delores appreciated that she was a fiercely independent, private person but did enjoy spending time with friends and family. Perhaps her greatest joy was her small but close-knit family. She enjoyed traveling and took a number of trips with family and friends over the years. One of the highlights of her life was the birth of her only grandson whom she loved to spoil. She always enjoyed watching Sean play sports and was always proud to attend his school award ceremonies. We were blessed that she was able to see Sean graduate high school before her condition worsened.
Delores was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor Margaret Burton Corbin and Elmer Corbin, sister Edith Mae Fanning, and brother Elmer William (Bill) Corbin. She is survived by her loving daughter, Debra Kelly [Ronald], her grandson Sean Mark Kelly and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Society or a favorite charity are appreciated.
