Debby Wilkinson

February 1, 1938 — March 22, 2025

Bel Air

Deborah "Debby" Ann Wilkinson, age 87, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on March 22, 2025, surrounded by family at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Cambridge, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Albert and Elizabeth Adele (Henry) Neal and the wife of the late Irvin F. Wilkinson, Jr., to whom she was married for 58 years until his passing in 2015.

Debby grew up in Cambridge and had so many fond memories of her childhood living on the Eastern Shore. She enjoyed playing with her cousin, Sonia, in their grandparents’ backyard, going to dances, sitting at the counter in Whitey's getting sodas with her friends, modeling at Frankel’s department store, chasing boys, and going to the movies.

She briefly lived in Prince George's County, Maryland before settling in Harford County, Maryland where she remained for the rest of her adult life. Debby and Irv first lived in Edgewood, Maryland where they were very active in their community. They then moved to Bel Air in 1992.

Debby worked for Harford County Public Schools for decades. She started working as a paraeducator at William Paca/Old Post Road Elementary School before leaving to take care of her grandchildren. In 1996, she began working at John Archer School (now known as Harford Academy) where she continued to work until June 2024. Debby formed lifelong friendships there and made a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike. Harford Academy is a very special place, and everyone there cared for Debby as if she was a member of their family. She felt the same way about them.

Debby enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends. On the weekends, you could usually find her watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports, always their biggest fan on the sidelines. She was also a passionate supporter of Baltimore sports, cheering on the Ravens and Orioles with enthusiasm, and always wearing their team t-shirts to show her support. A devoted fan of country music, particularly Tim McGraw, Debby especially loved attending concerts. She cherished her time spent vacationing in Longboat Key, Florida and visiting family at the Delaware beaches. In her quiet moments, she found enjoyment in word search puzzles and treasured outings to Happy Hour with her beloved school family. But there was nothing more important to her than being Mom, Grandmom, and Gigi.

Debby is survived by her sons, Steven (Kelli) Wilkinson and Jeffrey (Kelly) Wilkinson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Flurry, Christopher (Lara) Wilkinson, Zakery (Danielle) Wilkinson, Jake Wilkinson, and Logan (Mason) Figdore; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn & Ella Flurry and Reed & Mia Wilkinson. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Frances (Michael) Kern as well as numerous cousins and extended family.
