DEAN EARL CRAVEN, age 51, of Bel Air, died on October 23, 2005 at his home. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Mary Lucille Crowley Craven of Bel Air and the late Arvel Haywood Craven.
Mr. Craven was employed for 19 years as a maintenance man for the Jemicy School in Owings Mills, where he was very active in school affairs. He was a thrifty avid collector of treasures. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed traveling to the Adirondack Mountains and upstate New York. He enjoyed helping everyone by fixing things. He was known for his sense of humor, and was a loving grandfather.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Craven is survived by his wife of 32 years to Amy J. Cole Craven; his daughter, Rachel J. Craven of Bel Air; four brothers: Edward Craven of Joppa, Donald Craven of Bel Air, Richard Craven, of White Marsh, and Charles Craven, of Bel Air; three sisters: Barbara Honberger of Aberdeen, Janet Ferarra, of Pensacola, FL, and June King of Jacksonville, Fl; and his granddaughter, Iris S. Craven, of Bel Air.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dean Craven Memorial Financial Aid Fund, c/o Jemicy School, 11 Celadon Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, to be used for students with dyslexia.
