David P. Herpel

David P. Herpel, age 62, of Edgewood, MD passed away on September 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Mildred (Hoefler) Herpel and the late Michael O. Herpel. He retired from the Maryland Air National Guard in 2014 as Flightline Superintendent, concluding his military career at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant with over 40 years of service. After retirement, he worked part time for Auto Zone in Edgewood and Greenville, SC. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion Post #17. David enjoyed scuba diving, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Herpel is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rita J. (Froeb) Herpel; daughter, Stacey L. Herpel and partner, Jen Longstaff, of Greer, SC; son, Michael D. Herpel and wife, Trisha, of North East; grandson, Ethan M.P. Herpel; granddaughter, Lilliana R. Herpel; brother, Steven M. Herpel and wife, Viola, of Abingdon; two sister-in-laws, Ruth M. Froeb and Linda L. Creel and husband, Ron, all of Florida; and other loving family and friends.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his aunt, Catherine Robinson.
